We are proud to inform you that Matthias Egger was elected as president of the Research Council by the Executive Committee of the Foundation Council of the SNSF for the 2017-2020 term of office.
Matthias Egger is a long-term member of the SHCS and also a long-term member of the Scientific board and has published many very important epidemiological studies based on data from the SHCS.
We wish him best success in his new challenge!
The Swiss HIV Cohort Study (SHCS), established in 1988, is a nationwide prospective longitudinal cohort study enrolling persons with HIV in Switzerland. It is a collaboration of all Swiss university hospitals, large cantonal hospitals with affiliated laboratories, and affiliated smaller hospitals and private physicians caring for persons with HIV.
The overarching aim of the SHCS is to improve health of persons living with HIV through clinical, translational and basic science studies, and to strengthen collaborative and transdisciplinary research.
The Swiss Mother and Child HIV Cohort Study (MoCHiV) is integrated into the SHCS. It aims at preventing mother-to-child transmission and enrolls pregnant women with HIV and their children.
